Startup of the Year 2016: Belagroprombank discovers new names
Whose startup is the best? How long does it take to get successful? Which niches can be occupied in business today? What do investors put their stake on? These and other issues were discussed at the event “Startup of the Year 2016” organized by the centre for entrepreneurship support “Startup Technologies”, with JSC Belagroprombank acting as a General Partner.
On 17 December 2016 “Startup of the Year 2016”competition was held at the Victoriya Olymp Hotel. Belagroprombank was the General Partner of the event.
The second year in a row the forum opens up new names in the sphere of innovation and gives a fresh successful start for the most persistent and talented persons willing to build up a successful business. In the course of the year, experts and business angels of “Startup Technologies” have been searching for creative and the most perspective projects of Belarusian startuppers. Out of more than 1000 business ideas, 10 most creative startups made it to the final and some of them have already found their investors.
The authors of the projects were given the opportunity to present their startups in front of the large audience, communicate with investors and business representatives, attend workshop sessions, get advice from major experts, and define strong and weak sides of their project and the directions for its effective implementation.

The conference “Startup of the Year 2016” gathered competent IT experts in the field of information technologies, as well as in the field of creation and promotion of business in the international markets. The event gathered over 400 participants, including around 50 foreign guests.
The audience voted for the startups.
Belagroprombank has once again become the general partner of the startups competition thanks to its cooperation with the continuous organizer of key startup events in Belarus – the centre for entrepreneurship support “Startup Technologies”. In October 2015 the Head Office of Belagroprombank hosted the business-projects competition Invest Weekend, and in December last year our bank became a General Partner of the final of the “Startup of the Year 2015” competition. In May this year, another elimination round of the Startup Weekend contest took place with the bank’s financial support. The cooperation between the bank and the centre for entrepreneurship support is favourable for small and medium businesses: some startups have already received financing and were given a successful start.
The project was announced the best startup in 2016 - the travel startup by Oleg Tikhonov (the winner of the “Startup of the Year 2015” contest). The app allows planning a tour with comfortable timing and reasonable pricing from point “A” to any destination.
Belagroprombank willingly supported this event. The bank is confident that business is a driving force of the economy of our country, therefore, it is of vital importance to support startups promotion projects and assist young entrepreneurs in entering domestic and international markets.
Belagroprombank was awarded with a certificate of gratitude and a statuette “Partner of the Year” for sustainable and fruitful cooperation.
